Los Angeles Trade Tech vs Los Angeles City
Preview: Los Angeles Trade Tech at Los Angeles City
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — A surging Los Angeles Trade Tech team will look to continue its push for a winning season when it visits struggling Los Angeles City College in a men’s junior college basketball game Friday.
The Beavers (13-12) have won three of their last four, including a 99-92 victory over Pasadena City on Wednesday. They will face a Cubs squad (3-20) mired in a five-game losing streak, most recently a 77-60 loss at Pasadena City on Feb. 6.
Trade Tech, which defeated L.A. City 73-47 just over two weeks ago on Jan. 28, is led by guard Franklyn Chambers. He is coming off a complete performance against Pasadena City, scoring 20 points with six rebounds and six assists in 35 minutes. Support from Sky Clay (15 points, 7 rebounds) and Jordan Webster (17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) has been key during the Beavers’ recent run.
The Cubs will rely on forward Devean Mpoupe-Singui, their most consistent performer during a difficult season. He posted a double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds) in the team’s last win on Jan. 21 and averaged 13.8 points and 8.2 rebounds over his last five contests. However, he was held to just six points in the previous meeting with Trade Tech.
L.A. City’s season has been defined by offensive struggles, failing to reach 70 points in 10 of its last 11 games. Trade Tech, meanwhile, has shown high-scoring potential, topping 97 points three times in January.
The Friday the 13th matchup at L.A. City presents a clear contrast: a Beavers team finding its rhythm versus a Cubs team searching for answers. A win would solidify Trade Tech’s momentum heading into next week’s road test at Mount San Antonio. For the Cubs, it represents a chance to break a lengthy skid and find a bright spot in a challenging campaign.
Tipoff is scheduled for Friday evening. The game is organized by the California Community College Athletic Association.
