Rio Hondo vs East Los Angeles
Preview: Rio Hondo Roadrunners at East Los Angeles Huskies
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The East Los Angeles College Huskies will look to complete a regular-season sweep and solidify their playoff positioning when they host the Rio Hondo College Roadrunners in a California Community College men’s basketball matchup Friday.
The Huskies (14-9) enter the contest having won five of their last six games, including a decisive 80-65 victory at Rio Hondo on Jan. 28. East Los Angeles is coming off a 66-55 road loss to West Valley on Monday, which snapped a four-game winning streak.
Rio Hondo (8-15) seeks to halt a three-game skid and avenge its earlier loss to the Huskies. The Roadrunners are coming off a 97-74 defeat at Los Angeles Trade-Tech on Feb. 6, part of a difficult stretch where they have lost seven of their last nine.
A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top performers. Rio Hondo guard Bobby Reyes is averaging 23.3 points over his last three games, including a 23-point, 7-rebound, 7-assist effort in the loss to Trade-Tech. However, he was held to just 10 points in the first meeting with East Los Angeles.
The Huskies counter with forward Imani Herring, who posted 12 points and six rebounds in the January win over Rio Hondo. Herring is averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds over her last three contests, including a 20-point, 9-rebound performance in a win over Mount San Antonio on Feb. 6.
East Los Angeles has relied on a stout defense during its recent surge, holding opponents under 75 points in four of its last five wins. Containing Reyes will be a primary focus. Rio Hondo, which has shown offensive firepower but struggled defensively, will need a more efficient performance after shooting poorly in the previous meeting.
Tip-off is set for Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at East Los Angeles College. The Huskies’ next game is at Pasadena City on Feb. 18, while Rio Hondo hosts Los Angeles City on the same date.
