Chabot vs Canada (Calif.)

Gladiators, Colts Set for Rematch With Playoff Implications

HAYWARD, Calif. (Interstat) — A crucial California community college men’s basketball rematch is set for Wednesday when the Chabot Gladiators visit the Canada Colts.

The Gladiators (17-7), seeking to solidify their playoff positioning, will look to avenge a Jan. 16 home loss to the Colts. In that game, Canada (9-15) secured a 67-60 victory behind a balanced effort. The Colts’ Shawn Acosta contributed 7 points, 2 rebounds and an assist in that win.

Chabot enters on a mixed run of form. Following a strong 5-1 stretch that included wins over Skyline, Ohlone and De Anza, the Gladiators were routed 86-60 by Las Positas on Feb. 6. Player to watch Kamari King was limited to one minute in that defeat.

Canada has struggled for consistency, having lost three straight since a Jan. 28 win over San Mateo. Their most recent outing was an 87-66 loss to De Anza on Feb. 6. Acosta remains a key figure for the Colts’ offense.

Despite the disparity in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a dead-even contest, forecasting a 100-100 final score. The result will likely hinge on which team controls the tempo, as their previous meeting was a low-scoring, defensive affair.

For Chabot, the game is an opportunity to rebound from a blowout loss and strengthen its postseason resume. For Canada, it represents a chance to sweep the season series and build momentum for a late push.

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Canada College in Redwood City.
