West Los Angeles vs Antelope Valley

Preview: West Los Angeles Wildcats at Antelope Valley Marauders

LANCASTER, Calif. (Interstat) — A key California Community College men’s basketball rematch is set for Wednesday when the West Los Angeles Wildcats visit the Antelope Valley Marauders.

The Wildcats (15-7) enter with a stronger overall record, but the Marauders (10-11) won the first meeting this season, 87-83, on Jan. 17. That result adds stakes to the conference matchup.

West L.A. has won three of its last four games, including a 78-75 road victory over Los Angeles Valley on Feb. 7. The Wildcats are led by guard Chase Coleman, who averages 20.9 points per game. He scored 27 points in the loss to Antelope Valley last month and is coming off a 22-point, 4-rebound, 4-assist performance in a win over Bakersfield on Feb. 4.

Antelope Valley looks to snap a three-game skid, with each loss by six points or fewer. The most recent was a 66-64 defeat at Bakersfield on Feb. 7. The Marauders rely heavily on forward Mister Burnside, who posted a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double in that loss. Burnside was instrumental in the first win over West L.A., finishing with 24 points and 9 rebounds.

The Wildcats’ recent success has been fueled by balanced scoring alongside Coleman, with Malachi Knight adding 18 points against L.A. Valley and Michael Baba pulling down 10 rebounds in that game.

For Antelope Valley, sustaining Burnside’s production is critical, but support from guards Amado Coleman and Rahjon Chambers will be needed to handle West L.A.’s backcourt pressure.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST at Antelope Valley College. The Wildcats’ next game is at home against Canyons on Saturday. The Marauders host Santa Monica on Saturday.
