Solano vs Contra Costa
Preview: Struggling Solano Faces Contra Costa in Bay Valley Conference Clash
FAIRFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Solano Falcons will look to snap a prolonged skid when they visit the Contra Costa Comets in a Bay Valley Conference men’s junior college basketball game Friday night.
The matchup at Contra Costa College pits teams heading in opposite directions. The Falcons (3-18 overall) have lost 11 consecutive games, last winning on Dec. 23, 2025. Their most recent outing was a 94-37 road loss to Yuba on Jan. 30, highlighting their offensive struggles.
In contrast, the Comets (12-10) have been competitive, though they are coming off a 72-61 loss at Merritt last Friday. Contra Costa has shown resilience, with several high-scoring performances and overtime contests this season.
This will be the second meeting between the teams this season. On Jan. 8, the Comets handled the Falcons 72-56 in Fairfield. Solano has not surpassed 69 points in any game during its current losing streak.
For Solano, the focus will be on finding consistent offense and disrupting Contra Costa’s rhythm. The Falcons’ challenging season includes seven losses by 20 or more points.
Contra Costa, which averages a robust offensive output, will aim to capitalize on its home court and solidify its position in the conference standings. The Comets have proven capable of winning shootouts, as evidenced by a 98-92 overtime victory over Los Medanos in December.
The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Feb. 6. Following this contest, Solano will host Napa Valley on Feb. 11, while Contra Costa travels to face Yuba on the same date.
