San Diego Miramar vs Palomar

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — A pivotal California community college men’s basketball rematch is set for Friday when the Palomar Comets host the San Diego Miramar Jets.

The game, scheduled for Feb. 6, 2026, will see the Comets (14-6) looking to avenge a 92-87 road loss to the Jets (9-11) just four weeks prior on Jan. 9. That result adds intrigue to a contest featuring teams on opposite trajectories. Palomar has won seven of its last nine games, while Miramar has dropped three of its last four.

Palomar’s strength is its high-powered offense, averaging over 95 points per game during its recent surge. A key catalyst is sophomore guard Jaidyn Norman, who is coming off a 25-point performance against San Diego City College on Jan. 23 and scored 28 points in a win over Grossmont on Jan. 16. His versatility will be central to the Comets’ attack.

The Jets will counter with forward Jaden Merritt, who recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Grossmont on Jan. 30. Support from Ah-Zion Applewhaite, who had 17 points in that game, will be crucial for an Miramar squad seeking consistency.

Despite their losing record, the Jets have proven they can compete with the conference’s best, as shown in the January upset of Palomar. The Comets, however, have been dominant at home and possess a clear edge in overall season performance.

Friday’s outcome will carry significant weight for conference standings and momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Palomar College Sports Complex.
