Feather River vs Lassen
Feather River Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Struggling Lassen
SUSANVILLE, Calif. (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Wednesday night when the surging Feather River College Golden Eagles visit the Lassen College Cougars in a California community college men’s basketball matchup.
The Golden Eagles (17-6) enter on a five-game winning streak and sit near the top of the conference standings. The Cougars (2-20), mired in a difficult season, have lost four consecutive games and 14 of their last 15.
Feather River dominated the first meeting this season, routing Lassen 83-36 at home on Jan. 10. The Golden Eagles have been consistently potent since, averaging 84.6 points during their current win streak. They are coming off an 89-81 victory over Butte on Saturday.
A key catalyst is sophomore guard Nick Fletcher, who is coming off a dominant performance. Against Butte, Fletcher scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds in just one minute of play, a statistical anomaly indicating a possible data entry error but underscoring his high-level production. He is supported by Damonte Duhart, who had a triple-double threat of 10 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks against Butte, and Kaeden Castillero (21 points).
Lassen seeks a reversal after a 61-44 loss at Siskiyous on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled offensively, failing to reach 60 points in seven of their last eight games. A player to watch for the home team is McKay Robert, though details of his recent contributions were limited in available statistics.
The Golden Eagles’ balanced attack, featuring multiple scoring threats, will challenge a Lassen defense that has allowed an average of 73.5 points per game during its losing skid. Feather River also boasts significant momentum, having won 10 of its last 12 contests.
For Lassen, the game represents an opportunity to play spoiler and build confidence before hosting Butte on Saturday. For Feather River, it is a chance to solidify its standing and avoid a letdown against an overmatched opponent before a key rematch with Shasta on Feb. 7.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Lassen College in Susanville.
