Imperial Valley vs San Diego City
Preview: San Diego City Knights Set to Host Imperial Valley Arabs in Junior College Basketball
SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — A stark contrast in trajectories will be on display Wednesday night when the surging San Diego City Knights host the struggling Imperial Valley Arabs in a California community college men’s basketball matchup.
The Knights (16-5) enter the contest riding a six-game winning streak and sit firmly among the region’s top teams. The Arabs (0-21), meanwhile, are still in search of their first victory of the 2025-26 season.
San Diego City dominated the first meeting this season, routing Imperial Valley 111-67 on the road on Jan. 7. The Knights have continued their strong form, most recently defeating San Diego Mesa 90-60 on Jan. 28. Imperial Valley is coming off an 88-65 home loss to MiraCosta on Jan. 30, its 21st consecutive defeat.
The Knights are powered by standout Dylan Griffin, who has been on a remarkable run. Over his last six games, Griffin is averaging 25 points and 12.2 rebounds per contest. His recent stretch includes a 31-point, 14-rebound performance in a win over Grossmont on Jan. 26 and a 20-point, 16-rebound, 8-assist effort against San Diego Mesa.
Imperial Valley has faced consistent challenges on both ends of the floor throughout the season. In the Jan. 7 loss to the Knights, the Arabs allowed San Diego City to eclipse the 110-point mark. During its current skid, Imperial Valley has lost by an average margin of 30.5 points in its last four games.
For San Diego City, the game represents an opportunity to maintain momentum and conference standing before a road test at Cuyamaca on Friday. Imperial Valley continues a difficult stretch, facing San Diego Mesa on the road Friday after Wednesday’s contest.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST at Harry West Gymnasium on the San Diego City College campus.
