MOORPARK, Calif. (Interstat) — Snookey Wigington and Jerimiyah Smith each scored 26 points to lift the Ventura Pirates to a 90-85 men’s junior college basketball victory over the Moorpark Raiders on Wednesday night.

Ventura (21-3) used a dominant rebounding performance, grabbing 46 total boards to Moorpark’s 28, to secure the road win. The Pirates overcame a 47-point first quarter from the Raiders (14-9) by holding them to 38 points in the second period.

Tidiane Sy led Moorpark with 21 points. Roman Finney added 19.

Wigington added five rebounds and seven assists for Ventura, while Smith contributed a double-double with 10 rebounds. The Pirates attempted 36 free throws, making 27, to help seal the game in the final moments.
