Reedley vs Lemoore
LEMOORE, Calif. (Interstat) — A pair of Central Valley men’s junior college basketball teams with identical records and a recent high-scoring history will meet Saturday when the Reedley Tigers visit the Lemoore Golden Eagles.
Both teams enter the Jan. 31 matchup at 11-10 overall, seeking momentum in the back half of the California community college schedule. Their first meeting this season was an offensive showcase, with Lemoore securing an 88-80 road victory on Jan. 7.
Reedley arrives after a narrow 66-61 loss at Merced on Wednesday, despite a standout performance from guard Devon Marshall. The sophomore erupted for 24 points, six rebounds and two assists in that contest, highlighting a recent surge. Over his last four games, Marshall is averaging 14.8 points, including his season-high output against Merced.
Lemoore counters with its own force in the paint in forward Na’Jae Stevenson. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 79-51 rout of Coalinga, where Stevenson dominated with 18 points and 16 rebounds. It was his third double-double in four games, a stretch where he has averaged 13.3 points and 12.8 rebounds per contest.
The Tigers will look to support Marshall with production from CJ Kornegay Jr. and Kevin Chambers, who combined for 23 points against Merced. Lemoore’s attack is more diversified; alongside Stevenson, Mykayle McCoy leads a supporting cast after scoring 21 points in the win over Coalinga.
Both teams have mirrored each other’s inconsistency, trading wins and losses over the past month. Home court may provide a slight edge for Lemoore, which is 7-3 at home this season compared to Reedley’s 3-7 road mark.
The rematch promises a contrast in styles: Reedley’s guard-led attack spearheaded by Marshall against Lemoore’s interior strength anchored by Stevenson. The outcome will break the season record tie and provide a crucial result as both programs jockey for postseason positioning in the final weeks of conference play.
