Allan Hancock vs Oxnard
OXNARD, Calif. (Interstat) — Arlind Konjuhi scored 27 points and Allan Hancock used a dominant rebounding performance to hold off a persistent Oxnard squad for a 78-71 victory in a California Community College Athletic Association men’s basketball game Saturday.
The visiting Bulldogs, who defeated Oxnard by seven points just over three weeks prior, never trailed but could not fully shake the Condors in a contest defined by second-chance opportunities and a decisive advantage on the glass.
Allan Hancock established control early with a 37-point first quarter, but Oxnard kept pace by shooting efficiently, trailing by only three points after the opening period. The game’s critical disparity emerged in rebounding, where the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Condors 47-22, including a 16-3 edge on the offensive boards. This led to numerous extra possessions that ultimately offset Allan Hancock’s 40.8 percent shooting from the field.
The most important sequence of the game occurred late in the second quarter with Allan Hancock clinging to a narrow lead. After Oxnard’s Carter Reid hit a jumper to pull the Condors within two points at 69-67 with just over three minutes remaining, the Bulldogs responded with a crucial 9-2 run to seal the win. The spurt was capped by a Trenten Lavender 3-pointer and a TJ Hollinger layup, pushing the lead back to nine and forcing a final Oxnard timeout with 1:03 left. The Condors would not score again.
Konjuhi, the game’s top star, added nine rebounds in 39 minutes for Allan Hancock. He was supported by Noah Morris, who posted a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Hollinger, who contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Oxnard was led by Carter Reid’s 22 points and five rebounds. Tristan Carter provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, and Ruben Jimenez facilitated the offense with seven assists.
Despite committing 20 fouls and turning the ball over 10 times, Allan Hancock’s relentless work on the boards and an offensive rating of 104.0 on 75 possessions proved sufficient. Oxnard, which shot 44.8 percent from the field and recorded 10 steals, was hampered by its inability to secure defensive rebounds and a lower offensive efficiency of 96.5 on 74 possessions.
With the win, Allan Hancock improves to 16-7 overall. Oxnard drops to 5-16.
