Ohlone vs San Mateo
Preview: Ohlone at San Mateo in Key California Junior College Men’s Basketball Matchup
SAN MATEO, Calif. (Interstat) — A tightly contested California junior college men’s basketball conference race brings the Ohlone Renegades to face the San Mateo Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, in a rematch of an overtime thriller from earlier this month.
San Mateo (14-6) edged Ohlone (10-10) 72-69 in overtime on Jan. 7 in Fremont. The Bulldogs have lost three of their last four games since that victory, however, including a 70-42 home defeat to Las Positas on Jan. 23. Ohlone arrives having split its last four, most recently defeating Canada College 82-78 in overtime on Jan. 23.
Ohlone will lean on forward Anthony Lacy, who dominated in the win over Canada with 19 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. Teammates Kiratraj Sanghera (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Shimri Barazani (13 points) also provided significant production in that game.
The Renegades have shown resilience in close games, with their last two home contests going to overtime. Securing a road win has been more challenging, as they are 1-3 in their last four away from Fremont.
San Mateo seeks to stabilize after its recent skid. Prior to the loss to Las Positas, the Bulldogs fell to De Anza 80-75 and were defeated by San Francisco 80-54. Their defense, which held Ohlone to 69 points in the first meeting, will be tested again by Lacy and the Renegades’ interior presence.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be a high-scoring deadlock, forecasting a 100-100 final score. The result will have implications for the conference standings as both teams look to build momentum for the final month of the regular season.
Ohlone’s next game is at home against Skyline on Feb. 4. San Mateo will host Chabot on the same date.
