Los Angeles Harbor vs Compton
COMPTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks and Compton Tartars will meet in a California community college men’s basketball game Friday, each looking to halt a skid.
The Seahawks (10-9) visit the Tartars (7-13) at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30.
Los Angeles Harbor has dropped two of its last three, including an 80-59 road loss to Los Angeles Southwest last Friday. Compton is on a four-game losing streak, most recently an 88-58 defeat to Cerritos, also last Friday.
A key matchup will feature Harbor’s high-scoring guard Kristian Jemerson against Compton’s interior presence, Israel Nansha.
Jemerson has been on a tear, averaging 24.5 points over his last four games. He scored 32 points in a Jan. 7 loss to East Los Angeles and 26 in a win over Long Beach on Jan. 21.
Nansha, a forward, is coming off a 10-rebound performance against Cerritos. He had 11 points and eight rebounds in a win over Rio Hondo on Jan. 9.
For Compton, Ley McGovern provided a bright spot in the Cerritos loss, scoring a team-high 16 points.
The Seahawks had won three straight before their recent stumble, with victories over Long Beach, Pasadena City and Los Angeles City. The Tartars’ last win was Jan. 9 against Rio Hondo.
This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams this season. They are set to play again at Los Angeles Harbor on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Following this game, Harbor will visit El Camino on Feb. 4. Compton will travel to face Los Angeles Southwest on the same date.
