Mount San Antonio vs Los Angeles Trade Tech

LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — A surging Mount San Antonio team visits a resurgent Los Angeles Trade Tech squad in a key California community college men’s basketball matchup Friday night.

The Mounties (15-3) enter on a six-game winning streak, including a dominant 109-75 victory over Rio Hondo last Friday. Point guard Dayvon Gates has been the catalyst, averaging 15.5 points and 8.3 assists over that stretch. In the win over Rio Hondo, he posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists.

Mount San Antonio’s offense has been potent, scoring 94 points or more in four of its last six contests. Ryan Wheeler added an 11-point, 13-rebound performance off the bench in the latest win.

The host Beavers (10-10) have found their footing after a slow start, winning four of their last five games. They are coming off an 82-71 road win at Pasadena City, led by a standout performance from Franklyn Chambers. The guard scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds in that contest, continuing his strong play. Chambers is averaging 16.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists over his last five full games.

This game represents a classic clash of momentum versus opportunity. Mount San Antonio has established itself as one of the region’s top teams with its high-scoring, balanced attack. Los Angeles Trade Tech, now at .500, looks to prove it can compete with the elite and continue its push for playoff positioning.

The teams will meet again in Walnut on Feb. 18. Friday’s tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PST at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.
