Preview: San Bernardino Valley at Chaffey

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging San Bernardino Valley men’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when it visits Chaffey College in a California community college matchup Wednesday night.

The Wolverines (16-5) have won seven consecutive games, most recently a dominant 123-71 victory over Victor Valley on Friday. They have averaged 101.3 points per game during the streak. Chaffey (9-11) seeks to steady itself after a narrow 83-82 home loss to Mount San Jacinto last Saturday, its third defeat in four outings.

San Bernardino Valley won the first meeting this season, 86-70 at home on Dec. 17.

A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top scorers. San Bernardino Valley is led by guard Stanley Thomas III, who is averaging 18.7 points per game over his last seven contests. He scored 28 points in just 27 minutes in the win over Victor Valley. For Chaffey, forward Collin Ingram has been a consistent force, posting 22 points and seven rebounds in the tough loss to Mount San Jacinto.

The Wolverines’ offense has been prolific, exceeding 110 points four times during their streak. Alongside Thomas, contributors like Duante Murphy (20 points vs. Victor Valley) and Jaden Riley (12 points, nine assists) provide balance. Chaffey will counter with Ingram and Jonathan Markham, who recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds and eight points last game.

The Panthers have shown resilience, winning an overtime game at Desert on Jan. 21, but have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 82.3 points in their last three losses.

Wednesday’s game tips off at 5 p.m. PST at Chaffey College. San Bernardino Valley visits Copper Mountain on Saturday. Chaffey travels to Cerro Coso on Saturday.
