Chabot vs Ohlone
Gladiators, Renegades Set for Coast Conference North Showdown
FREMONT, Calif. (Interstat) — A pivotal Coast Conference North men’s junior college basketball matchup is set for Wednesday when the Chabot Gladiators visit the Ohlone Renegades.
Chabot (14-6 overall) enters with momentum from a dominant 90-51 road victory over De Anza last Friday. The Gladiators have shown resilience, including a 77-75 overtime win over San Mateo on Jan. 9, but also carry recent conference losses to Las Positas and San Francisco.
Ohlone (10-10) looks to build on a thrilling 82-78 overtime win against Canada College last Friday. The Renegades have alternated wins and losses in their last six games, seeking consistency in conference play.
A key individual matchup features Chabot guard Malik Merchant against Ohlone forward Anthony Lacy. Merchant scored nine points in 27 minutes in the Gladiators’ overtime win over San Mateo. Lacy is coming off a monumental performance, posting 19 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in the overtime victory against Canada College.
The Renegades’ win over Canada was a dual effort, with Kiratraj Sanghera adding 18 points and 11 rebounds. Chabot’s recent rout of De Anza showcased a balanced attack that will test Ohlone’s defense.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be a high-scoring deadlock, forecasting a 100-100 final score. The result could significantly impact the conference standings as the season’s second half unfolds.
Wednesday’s winner will gain an early advantage in the teams’ season series, which concludes at Chabot on Feb. 20.
The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Ohlone College.
