Cerritos vs Los Angeles Harbor

Preview: Cerritos Falcons at Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks

WILMINGTON, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Cerritos College men’s basketball team looks to continue its strong season when it visits Los Angeles Harbor College in a California Community College Athletic Association matchup Wednesday night.

The Falcons (16-4), ranked eighth in the state, have won four of their last five games, including an emphatic 88-58 road victory at Compton last Friday. They will face a Harbor (10-9) squad seeking consistency after a 21-point loss to Los Angeles Southwest in its last outing.

Cerritos is led by guard Kamaury Washington, who is coming off a 26-point, five-rebound performance against Compton. Over his last four games, Washington is averaging 17 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists, providing a versatile scoring punch. He was complemented in the win over Compton by Isaac Sowell’s double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Seahawks will counter with high-scoring guard Kristian Jemerson, who has been on a tear. Jemerson has scored 20 or more points in five consecutive games, averaging 25.2 points per contest in that stretch. He poured in a season-high 32 points in a narrow loss to East Los Angeles on Jan. 7 and had 26 points in a win over Long Beach on Jan. 21.

Cerritos boasts the superior record and has shown resilience on the road, with key wins at Mount San Antonio and Rio Hondo this month. Their only loss since Dec. 22 was a 71-66 setback at Los Angeles Southwest.

Los Angeles Harbor has shown flashes, winning three straight earlier this month before the loss to Southwest. Their home court advantage will be tested against a Cerritos team with clear postseason aspirations.

The teams will meet again in Norwalk on Feb. 13.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST at the Los Angeles Harbor College Seahawk Center.
