Sierra vs Diablo Valley

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Sierra College men’s basketball team will look to continue its climb when it visits a resurgent Diablo Valley College in a key California Community College contest Tuesday night.

The Wolverines (15-4) enter on a five-game winning streak, most recently edging Cosumnes River 76-75 on Jan. 20. Their potent offense has scored 90 or more points in four of those victories, including a 100-96 win at San Joaquin Delta on Jan. 13. Sierra’s success has been built on consistency, with narrow road wins at Sacramento City (93-90) and Santa Rosa (85-82) highlighting their ability to close out tight games.

The Diablo Valley Vikings (9-9), meanwhile, have shown recent signs of turning their season around. After a three-game skid, they secured an 83-72 road victory at American River on Jan. 23. A player to watch for the Vikings is Dylan Devinney, who has been a steady offensive force. In the win over American River, Devinney posted 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Over his last five games, he has averaged 14.4 points per contest.

The matchup presents a classic contrast: Sierra’s high-scoring, winning momentum against a Diablo Valley squad seeking to reach .500 and defend its home court. The Vikings will need to contain a Wolverines attack that has proven capable of explosive outputs, while Sierra must contend with Devinney’s all-around play and the Vikings’ renewed confidence following their latest result.

Tuesday’s game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Diablo Valley College. Following this contest, Sierra will host American River on Jan. 30, while Diablo Valley travels to face Santa Rosa on the same date.
