Folsom Lake vs Sacramento City
FOLSOM LAKE, SACRAMENTO CITY SEEK MOMENTUM IN BATTLE OF 6-14 TEAMS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams with identical records and recent struggles will meet Tuesday when the Folsom Lake Falcons visit the Sacramento City Panthers.
The California Community College Athletic Association matchup tips off at 7 p.m. on Jan. 27.
Both teams enter with 6-14 overall records, each looking to halt a losing streak and gain traction in conference play.
Folsom Lake is reeling from an 83-59 home loss to Modesto last Friday. That defeat snapped a brief positive run for the Falcons, who had won two of their previous three games, including an 85-71 victory over San Joaquin Delta on Jan. 20 and an 88-79 road win at American River on Jan. 16. The Falcons have shown offensive capability but have been prone to defensive lapses, allowing 80 or more points in eight of their 14 losses.
Sacramento City also carries the sting of a lopsided defeat, having fallen 123-81 to Cosumnes River on Friday. The Panthers have lost three straight and five of their last six. Their lone win in that span was a narrow 82-78 victory at Diablo Valley on Jan. 8. Defense has been a persistent issue for Sacramento City, which has surrendered an average of 90.5 points during its current three-game skid.
The game represents a chance for either team to build confidence before a tough stretch. Folsom Lake’s upcoming schedule includes a road game at Cosumnes River on Jan. 30. Sacramento City faces a trip to Modesto on Jan. 30.
With mirrored records and similar quests for consistency, Tuesday’s contest will hinge on which team can better shore up its defense and capitalize on a rare matchup against an equally struggling opponent. The winner will gain a temporary foothold before the conference grind intensifies.
