San Diego Miramar vs Cuyamaca
Jets, Coyotes Meet in Tight California Conference Clash
EL CAJON, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking consistency will meet Monday when the San Diego Miramar Jets visit the Cuyamaca Coyotes.
The California Conference matchup features teams with nearly identical records. San Diego Miramar is 8-10 overall, while Cuyamaca sits at 8-11. Both are looking to build momentum in the second half of the season.
Cuyamaca won the first meeting this season, 56-53 at Miramar on Dec. 17. The Jets will aim for revenge on the road.
A key player to watch is Cuyamaca’s Jordan Garner. The guard is coming off a strong performance in a 73-69 loss at Grossmont on Friday, where he logged 22 points, six rebounds and nine assists in 34 minutes. Over his last four games, Garner is averaging 18.8 points and 6.0 assists per contest.
San Diego Miramar is looking to bounce back from a narrow 89-87 road loss at MiraCosta last Friday. In the earlier loss to Cuyamaca, the Jets were held to a season-low 53 points, a defensive effort the Coyotes will try to replicate.
Both teams have shown recent flashes. The Jets have wins in three of their last six games, including a 93-73 victory at Imperial Valley on Jan. 16. The Coyotes are 2-2 in their last four, highlighted by an 89-54 rout of Imperial Valley on Jan. 21 where Garner had 22 points and nine assists.
Monday’s game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. PST tipoff at Cuyamaca College. The Jets’ next game is at Grossmont on Jan. 30. The Coyotes travel to face MiraCosta on Jan. 28.
