Reedley vs Fresno City
Reedley, Fresno City Seek Momentum in Central Valley Showdown
FRESNO, Calif. (Interstat) — A pair of California junior college men’s basketball teams looking to stabilize their seasons will meet Saturday when the Reedley Tigers visit the Fresno City Rams.
The non-conference matchup, set for Jan. 24, 2026, features teams with contrasting recent results. Reedley (10-9) enters having snapped a four-game skid with a dominant 77-45 home victory over Coalinga on Wednesday. Fresno City (6-13), meanwhile, is reeling from a last-second 52-51 home loss to Lemoore that same night, its eighth defeat in the last ten games.
A key focus will be Reedley sophomore guard Nassef Lubowa, who has been a consistent offensive force. He averaged 19.7 points over his last six games, including a 35-point outburst in a loss to Lemoore on Jan. 7. In Wednesday’s win, he posted 15 points, six rebounds and two assists. His ability to score from multiple levels will challenge the Rams’ defense.
Fresno City will counter with guard Terrell Sutherland, who led the team with 14 points in the loss to Sequoias last Saturday. The Rams have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 81.2 points in their 13 losses, but showed promise in a 79-51 win over Coalinga on Jan. 10.
Despite the Rams’ home-court advantage, their season has been marred by defensive lapses, including losses where they surrendered 107, 102, 98 and 95 points. Reedley’s offense, led by Lubowa and supported by CJ Kornegay Jr. (11 points vs. Coalinga), will test that unit.
Historically, these programs have shared a competitive regional rivalry. This game serves as a preview of their conference rematch scheduled for Feb. 17 in Reedley.
Intriguingly, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 100-100 tie, suggesting a potentially high-scoring and evenly matched contest. For both teams, Saturday represents a critical opportunity to build momentum before continuing their conference schedules next week.
