San Diego Miramar vs MiraCosta
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking consistency will meet Friday when the MiraCosta Spartans host the San Diego Miramar Jets in a California Community College Athletic Association matchup.
The game, scheduled for Jan. 23, 2026, features teams with nearly identical records. MiraCosta enters at 7-9 overall, while San Diego Miramar sits at 8-9. Both squads are coming off double-digit road losses to San Diego City College on Jan. 16.
The Spartans will lean on guard Logan Ardent, who is coming off a standout 30-point, five-assist performance in that 89-70 defeat. Ardent has been a key facilitator and scorer, dishing nine assists in a win over Grossmont on Jan. 7.
San Diego Miramar responded to its loss to San Diego City with a decisive 93-73 road victory at Imperial Valley also on Jan. 16. The Jets have shown a pattern of alternating results recently, with a 2-2 record in their last four games.
MiraCosta’s season has been marked by offensive bursts, including a 101-point outing against Grossmont, but also by scoring droughts, as seen in a 53-point loss to Moorpark in December. Defense has been a stronger suit for the Jets, who held San Diego Mesa to 55 points in a Jan. 7 win and Cerritos to 57 in a December victory.
The first meeting between these programs this season carries weight for positioning within the conference landscape. The rematch is set for Feb. 20 at San Diego Miramar.
Friday’s contest will be a test of which team can establish momentum. For MiraCosta, that likely depends on Ardent’s offensive rhythm. For the visiting Jets, it will hinge on whether their defense can travel and create transition opportunities to steady their up-and-down season.
