MiraCosta vs Palomar
Preview: MiraCosta Spartans at Palomar Comets
SAN MARCOS, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Palomar squad will look to continue its winning ways when it hosts a struggling MiraCosta team in a California community college men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night.
The Comets (12-5) enter on a four-game win streak, highlighted by a dominant 104-82 road victory at Grossmont last Friday. They are averaging 106 points per game during that stretch.
Palomar is led by standout guard Angel Ochoa, who is coming off a spectacular 41-point, 7-assist performance against Grossmont. In his last four full contests, Ochoa is averaging 19.8 points and 5.8 assists, providing a consistent offensive spark. He is complemented by forward Jaidyn Norman, who posted a 28-point, 10-rebound double-double in the same game.
The visiting MiraCosta Spartans (7-9) aim to snap a two-game skid, most recently falling 89-70 at San Diego City last Friday. Their season has been marked by inconsistency, alternating wins and losses since late November.
MiraCosta will rely heavily on guard Logan Ardent, who scored 30 points in the loss to San Diego City. Ardent has shown versatile playmaking ability, dishing 9 assists in a Jan. 7 win over Grossmont. Support comes from Elijah Samdahl and forward Travis Snider, who grabbed 9 rebounds last time out.
The teams’ recent results illustrate contrasting trajectories. Palomar’s offense has been explosive, scoring 129 and 104 points in its last two wins. MiraCosta has exceeded 100 points twice this season but has also been held under 60 points three times.
This game opens a critical stretch for both teams in conference play. The rematch is scheduled for Feb. 18 at MiraCosta.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, at Palomar College.
