Coalinga vs Reedley
Reedley Aims to Halt Skid Against Struggling Coalinga
REEDLEY, Calif. (Interstat) — The Reedley College Tigers will look to snap a four-game losing streak when they host the Coalinga College Falcons in a California Community College men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night.
The Tigers (9-9 overall) have stumbled after a strong start to conference play, with their most recent defeat a 73-69 home loss to Porterville on Saturday. Reedley’s offense will again lean on standout guard Nassef Lubowa, who is averaging 20.8 points over his last five contests. He posted 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the loss to Porterville.
Conversely, Coalinga (2-16) seeks any positive momentum during a difficult season. The Falcons have lost 11 consecutive games since a Nov. 29 victory, including a 69-61 defeat at Merced on Saturday. Guard Kristian Graham has been a bright spot, scoring 21 points in a loss to Sequoias on Jan. 7.
Reedley won the teams’ first meeting this season, 71-68, on Jan. 3 behind 22 points from Lubowa. The Tigers’ current skid includes losses to Porterville, Columbia, Sequoias and Lemoore. Coalinga’s losing streak features defeats by an average margin of 21.5 points.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. PST on Jan. 21. Reedley travels to Fresno City on Saturday, while Coalinga hosts Columbia (Calif.) on Jan. 24.
