Moorpark vs Allan Hancock
Preview: Moorpark at Allan Hancock Men’s Basketball
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Allan Hancock College team will look to protect its home court against a Moorpark squad riding high from a blowout win when the Bulldogs host the Raiders in a California community college men’s basketball game Saturday.
The Bulldogs (14-5) enter the contest having won four of their last five, including a dominant 92-57 victory over Los Angeles Pierce on Wednesday. They are led by guard Arlind Konjuhi, who is coming off a 15-point, five-assist performance. Konjuhi has been a consistent offensive force, scoring in double figures in four of his last five games, including a 27-point outburst against Cypress on Dec. 30.
Moorpark (10-8) arrives with momentum after a 92-69 rout of Cuesta on the same night. The Raiders’ recent success has been fueled by forward Dominique Brutus, who recorded a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double in that win. Over his last three games, Brutus is averaging 15 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per contest, providing a major interior presence.
Allan Hancock holds a clear advantage in the standings and has been strong defensively, holding opponents to an average of 58.3 points over its current three-game win streak. Moorpark, meanwhile, has shown offensive explosiveness, scoring 90 or more points in three of its last six games but with inconsistent results on the road.
This matchup is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 11 in Moorpark. The Raiders will need to solve the Bulldogs’ defense to spring an upset on the road.
Tip-off is set for Saturday at Allan Hancock College.
