De Anza vs Ohlone

Preview: De Anza at Ohlone in Key California Junior College Men’s Basketball Clash

FREMONT, Calif. (Interstat) — A pair of California community college men’s basketball teams heading in opposite directions will meet Friday when the Ohlone Renegades host the De Anza Mountain Lions.

The Renegades (9-7 overall) enter the contest having won three of their last four games, including a 79-69 road victory at Skyline on Jan. 9. Their most recent scheduled game, a home contest against San Francisco on Wednesday, was apparently postponed or canceled, as a 0-0 result is listed.

In contrast, the Mountain Lions (6-10) are mired in a three-game losing streak. De Anza fell 82-71 at Las Positas last Friday and suffered a 102-79 home loss to San Francisco on Jan. 7. Their last win was an 81-75 road victory at Monterey Peninsula on Jan. 2.

A player to watch for De Anza is Isaac Sisay. Details of his recent contributions were not fully available, but he was listed in the lineup for the Jan. 2 win.

Ohlone has shown a potent offense at times this season, scoring 95 points against Siskiyous and 92 against Gavilan in December. De Anza’s defense, which has allowed an average of 86.4 points over its last five games, will be tested.

Despite the teams’ differing recent form, a statistical projection suggests a tight battle. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 100-100 draw, indicating a potentially high-scoring and even matchup.

This game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the Coast Conference North Division rivals. They will meet again at De Anza on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

For Ohlone, the game begins a critical stretch against division opponents. The Renegades will visit Las Positas next Wednesday. De Anza continues its road swing at San Mateo next Wednesday, seeking to snap its skid and improve its conference standing.

Tip-off is set for Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at Ohlone College.
