San Diego Miramar vs Imperial Valley

Jets Look to Extend Win Streak Against Winless Arabs

IMPERIAL, Calif. (Interstat) — The San Diego Miramar Jets will aim to continue their recent momentum when they visit the struggling Imperial Valley Arabs in a California community college men’s basketball game Friday night.

The Jets (7-8) enter on a two-game winning streak, including a 92-87 victory over Palomar last Friday. Their recent form shows marked improvement, having won three of their last four contests after a difficult stretch in December.

Conversely, Imperial Valley (0-16) is still in search of its first win of the season. The Arabs are coming off a 74-56 home loss to San Diego Mesa last Friday and have faced several lopsided defeats. Their season includes a 156-52 loss to San Bernardino Valley in November and only two games decided by single digits.

Despite the stark contrast in records and recent performance, a statistical projection adds an intriguing layer. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a highly unusual 100-100 tie, suggesting a potentially high-scoring and competitive affair.

San Diego Miramar has shown resilience in close games, with narrow wins over Cerritos (58-57) and Victor Valley (71-67) this season. Guarding against complacency will be key as they face an Arabs squad with nothing to lose on their home floor.

Imperial Valley, led by first-year coach Marcus Johnson, continues to rebuild. The Arabs will rely on the scoring of sophomore forward David Cruz, who has been a consistent bright spot averaging 18 points per game.

For the Jets, balance has been crucial. Forward Jordan Lee and point guard Carlos Ruiz have powered the recent surge, combining for an average of 35 points over the last three games.

This matchup is the first of two between the teams this season, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 13 in San Diego.

Following this game, Miramar travels to face MiraCosta on Jan. 23. Imperial Valley’s quest for a win continues at home against Cuyamaca on Jan. 21.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. PST at DePaoli Sports Center.
