Sequoias vs Lemoore
LEMOORE, Calif. (Interstat) — A key California community college men’s basketball matchup awaits Wednesday as the Lemoore Golden Eagles host the Sequoias Giants.
The Giants (11-5) enter with a stronger overall record, but the Golden Eagles (9-7) have won four of their last five games, including an 84-62 road victory at Porterville on Saturday. Sequoias is coming off a 70-53 win at Reedley that same day.
A compelling duel between versatile forwards will highlight the contest. Sequoias’ Mason Dorsey has been a consistent all-around force, averaging 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists over his last five games. He posted a triple-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a win over Coalinga on Jan. 7.
For Lemoore, Na’Jae Stevenson is a rebounding machine. He has recorded a double-double in four of his last five outings, including an 18-point, 11-rebound performance at Porterville. Over that stretch, he is averaging 13.2 points and 12.8 rebounds per game.
The Giants’ offense has shown explosive potential, scoring 97 points or more in three of their last six games. However, they have also shown vulnerability in close contests, suffering overtime losses to Citrus and Ventura in recent weeks.
Lemoore has demonstrated resilience, winning two overtime games in December, but also dropping narrow decisions to Skyline and Foothill. Their recent surge has been fueled by strong contributions beyond Stevenson, including Mykayle McCoy, who had 18 points and 13 rebounds against Porterville.
This game marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams. They will meet again at Sequoias on Saturday, Feb. 7. Wednesday’s result will provide early momentum in the conference chase.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026.
