Solano vs Napa Valley
NAPA, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Napa Valley Storm hosts the Solano Falcons in a California Community College Athletic Association matchup.
The game tips off Jan. 10 at Napa Valley’s home court.
Solano (3-11) enters on a six-game losing skid, most recently falling 83-74 at Alameda on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled offensively during the streak, failing to reach 75 points in any of those contests and being held to 52 or fewer points twice.
A bright spot for the Falcons has been forward Dominick Dennis. He is coming off a double-double performance of 13 points and 11 rebounds in 35 minutes against Yuba on Jan. 2. Over his last four complete games, Dennis has averaged 11.5 points and 7.3 rebounds.
Napa Valley (6-10) has shown recent signs of life, winning two of its last three games. The Storm defeated Mendocino 80-72 at home on Thursday and edged Merritt 82-81 on the road Jan. 6. Their offense has found a rhythm, scoring 80 or more points in three of their last five outings.
Despite their overall records, a statistical projection suggests a tightly contested game. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 100-100 draw, indicating the potential for a high-scoring affair between the Bay Valley Conference foes.
The Storm will look to capitalize on their home court advantage and improved form to solidify their record. The Falcons aim to break their prolonged slump behind the interior presence of Dennis and find a consistent scoring touch.
This contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams. They are scheduled to play again at Solano on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Following this game, Napa Valley travels to face Yuba on Jan. 14, while Solano visits Marin on the same date.
