Yuba vs Contra Costa
Preview: Yuba 49ers at Contra Costa Comets
SAN PABLO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two of the California Community College Athletic Association’s hottest men’s basketball teams will clash Saturday when the Yuba 49ers visit the Contra Costa Comets.
Tipoff is set for Jan. 10, 2026, at Contra Costa College. Both teams enter with identical 11-win records and riding significant winning streaks in conference play.
The visiting 49ers (11-5 overall) have won four straight games, including an 88-56 rout of Alameda on Thursday and an 84-52 road victory over Solano on Jan. 2. Yuba’s offense has been potent during this stretch, averaging 86.3 points per game in those four wins.
Yuba will look to guard Isaiah Chandavong to facilitate its attack. Chandavong is coming off a balanced performance in the win at Solano, contributing 12 points, four assists and two rebounds in 28 minutes.
The Comets (11-6) have matched Yuba’s recent form, winning their last five contests. Their most recent win was a 72-56 road victory at Solano on Thursday. Contra Costa has shown resilience, with an overtime win over Los Medanos (98-92) included in its current streak.
Contra Costa’s frontcourt presence is anchored by Tremaine Moore, who posted a double-double of 12 points and six rebounds in just one minute of play in the win at Solano. Moore has been consistently productive on the boards, averaging 4.0 rebounds per game over his last five outings.
The matchup features two evenly matched squads with nearly identical records and recent momentum. Yuba will aim to continue its high-scoring ways on the road, while the Comets will rely on their interior strength and home-court advantage to extend their winning streak.
The game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams this season. They are scheduled to meet again at Yuba on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
