Diablo Valley vs Folsom Lake

Preview: Diablo Valley at Folsom Lake in California Community College Men’s Basketball

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Diablo Valley Vikings visit the Folsom Lake Falcons.

The non-conference matchup, scheduled for Jan. 10, 2026, features programs with struggling records looking to stabilize their seasons. Diablo Valley enters at 6-7 overall, while Folsom Lake sits at 4-12.

The Vikings aim to rebound from a narrow 82-78 home loss to Sacramento City on Thursday. That defeat extended a recent skid for Diablo Valley, which has lost three of its last four games. The team’s performance has been inconsistent, evidenced by a 108-point offensive outburst against American River on Dec. 23 followed by a 59-point effort in a loss at West Valley on Dec. 10. Their season includes several close losses, including one-point defeats to Chabot and Marin.

Folsom Lake is also reeling, coming off a 92-68 road loss to Sierra on Thursday. That was part of a difficult stretch where the Falcons have lost five of their last six games, often by wide margins. Their most recent victory was a 79-78 home win over De Anza on Dec. 12. Defensive struggles have been a theme, with opponents scoring 84 or more points in four of their last six contests.

Historically, this game serves as a precursor to a conference rematch scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Diablo Valley. Both teams will look to establish an early edge in the head-to-head series.

For Diablo Valley, the focus will be on recapturing the form that saw them score efficiently in their wins. For Folsom Lake, finding a way to slow the game and improve defensive resilience will be paramount against a Vikings squad capable of high-scoring performances.

The Falcons will have home court advantage as they seek to improve their record and build confidence before continuing a tough January schedule.
