Lassen vs Feather River

Feather River Aims to Continue Winning Ways Against Struggling Lassen

QUINCY, Calif. (Interstat) — A stark contrast in seasons will be on display Saturday when the Feather River College Golden Eagles host the Lassen College Cougars in a California community college men’s basketball matchup.

The Golden Eagles (12-6) enter the contest riding momentum from a decisive 89-66 road victory over Butte on Wednesday. They will face a Lassen squad (2-15) that, despite snapping a 10-game losing streak with a 62-51 home win over Siskiyous that same night, has found victories scarce this season.

Feather River’s success has been fueled by a balanced attack, with forward Damonte Duhart emerging as a consistent force. In the win at Butte, Duhart posted a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, adding six assists. Over his last four games, he is averaging 12.0 points and 9.8 rebounds. He is complemented by guards Armon Baker, who dished out 13 assists against Butte, and Zacarrion Jackson, who also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles have shown potency, scoring 84 or more points in five of their last eight games. Their six losses have come by an average of just 9.6 points.

Lassen’s season has been defined by offensive struggles. Prior to the Siskiyous win, the Cougars had failed to score more than 65 points in seven consecutive games, all losses. Their two victories this season—over Siskiyous and American River (64-55 on Nov. 21)—came when they held opponents under 55 points, suggesting their path to success hinges on defensive intensity.

The Cougars will need to contain a Feather River team that averages 81.2 points per game and has won seven of its last ten. The Golden Eagles also boast a perfect 6-0 record at home this season.

Saturday’s game marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the Golden Valley Conference foes. They will meet again in Susanville on Feb. 4.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at Feather River College.
