Western Oklahoma State vs Northeastern Oklahoma A&M
MIAMI, Okla. (Interstat) — A tight conference rematch is on tap Thursday when the Western Oklahoma State Pioneers visit the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Golden Norseman in a men’s junior college basketball game.
The Pioneers (7-10) won the first meeting 95-87 on Feb. 2 in Altus, Oklahoma. Both teams enter the rematch looking to build on recent victories. Western Oklahoma State is coming off an 85-71 win over Murray State on Monday, while Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (10-14) seeks to rebound from a 68-61 loss at Murray State on Feb. 26.
A key matchup will feature two of the region’s top performers. Western Oklahoma State is led by Franciz Wai, who is coming off a dominant performance Monday with 17 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Over his last three games, Wai is averaging 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds.
He will be countered by Northeastern Oklahoma A&M’s Keyne Costa. The forward has been on a hot streak, averaging 20.8 points and 7.0 rebounds over his last four contests. He posted a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Eastern Oklahoma State on Feb. 23.
Despite their sub-.500 records, both teams have shown offensive capability. The Golden Norseman have scored 78 or more points in four of their last five wins. The Pioneers, meanwhile, have surpassed 85 points in two of their last three victories.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a dead-even contest, forecasting a 100-100 final score. Tipoff is set for Thursday night at the NEO Fieldhouse.
