Gordon State vs Andrew

Preview: Gordon State Visits Andrew in Junior College Men’s Basketball

ANDREW, Ga. (Interstat) — Two Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball teams heading in opposite directions will meet Wednesday when the Gordon State Highlanders visit the Andrew Fighting Tigers.

Gordon State (8-13) enters the contest with momentum, having won two of its last three games, including a 71-65 victory over East Georgia State on Feb. 25. The Highlanders previously defeated Andrew (2-14) decisively, 99-71, in their Jan. 28 meeting.

Andrew seeks to end a prolonged slump, carrying a 10-game losing streak into Wednesday’s matchup. The Fighting Tigers’ last win came on Jan. 17. Their most recent outing was an 87-82 road loss to East Georgia State on Feb. 28.

A key matchup will feature Andrew’s Elijah White against Gordon State’s Jon Estime. White is coming off a spectacular 33-point performance in the loss to East Georgia State, showcasing his ability to carry the offensive load for the struggling Tigers. Over his last three games with significant minutes, White has averaged 18.3 points and 6.0 rebounds.

For Gordon State, Estime has seen limited action in recent contests but will look to impact the game against an Andrew defense that has allowed an average of 94.6 points during its losing streak.

Statistically, the game presents a contrast. Gordon State’s offense, which put up 99 points in the first meeting, will test an Andrew defense that has surrendered 100 or more points four times this season. Conversely, Andrew will rely on White and supporting players like Jasiyah Suber, who posted 10 points and six assists last game, to find consistency against a Highlander squad allowing 79.6 points per game.

Despite the disparity in records and recent form, Interstat’s game simulator projects a narrow, high-scoring affair, predicting a 100-100 final score.

The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff at Andrew’s home venue. Gordon State will host South Georgia Tech on Saturday, while Andrew will host South Georgia State the same day.
