Wabash Valley vs Lake Land
Preview: Wabash Valley at Lake Land in Junior College Men’s Basketball
MATTOON, Ill. (Interstat) — The Lake Land Lakers will seek to avenge an early-season defeat when they host the Wabash Valley Warriors in a men’s junior college basketball game Tuesday night.
The Warriors (12-12) enter the contest at .500, having split their last six games. Their most recent outing was a 91-60 home loss to Vincennes on Saturday, a game in which key player DeMario Spear saw only one minute of action. Wabash Valley’s form has been inconsistent, with notable wins over Olney Central and Shawnee this month followed by the lopsided defeat.
Lake Land (4-15) looks to snap a four-game skid, having last lost 82-70 to Shawnee on Feb. 25. The Lakers’ season has been defined by narrow defeats, including a one-point loss to Kaskaskia on Feb. 14.
The head-to-head matchup from Jan. 28 heavily favors the visitors. In that game, Wabash Valley secured an 81-64 victory at home, leading comfortably for most of the contest. Replicating that performance on the road will be the Warriors’ objective.
For Wabash Valley, Spear remains a player to watch, though his limited role in the last game raises questions about his availability or usage. The Warriors have shown scoring balance in recent wins, with contributions from Mohamed Diaby and Khore Furlow alongside Spear.
Lake Land’s challenge will be finding consistent offense and tightening a defense that has allowed an average of 81 points during its current losing streak. The Lakers have shown flashes, including a narrow overtime loss to Vincennes and a tight win over Southwestern Illinois in January, but have struggled to close games.
Tipoff is set for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Lakers’ home court. The game represents a chance for Wabash Valley to climb above .500 and for Lake Land to build momentum and find a signature win in a difficult season.
