Clarendon vs Odessa
ODESSA, Texas (Interstat) — The Odessa College Wranglers, riding high in the conference standings, will look to complete a regular-season sweep when they host the struggling Clarendon College Bulldogs in a men’s junior college basketball game Monday night at the OC Sports Center.
The Wranglers (18-8) enter the matchup with significant momentum following a dominant 92-47 victory over New Mexico Military Institute on Feb. 26. Forward Harvin Guevara was a force in that win, posting 15 points and eight rebounds in just 22 minutes. Odessa’s season has been marked by consistency, having won five of its last seven games.
In stark contrast, the Bulldogs (4-19) are mired in a 10-game losing streak. Their most recent outing was a 94-53 home loss to Howard College on Feb. 26. Clarendon’s challenges are underscored by its season record, though guard KD Davis has been a consistent bright spot. Over his last six games, Davis is averaging 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists, including a 24-point, nine-rebound effort in a close loss to New Mexico on Feb. 16.
Odessa won the first meeting this season, 74-63, at Clarendon on Jan. 29. The Wranglers will be heavily favored to repeat that result on their home floor, where they are 10-3 this season. Clarendon is 1-11 in true road games.
For the Bulldogs to be competitive, they will need another high-volume performance from Davis and must find a way to slow Odessa’s interior presence, led by Guevara. The Wranglers will aim to control the paint and exploit Clarendon’s defensive struggles; the Bulldogs have allowed 80 or more points in eight of their last ten contests.
Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CST. Odessa’s next game is at New Mexico on Thursday, while Clarendon will host South Plains College on Thursday.
