Florida Southwestern State vs Indian River State

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Florida Southwestern State squad looks to continue its dominant run when it visits Indian River State in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Monday night.

The Buccaneers (19-5) enter on a five-game winning streak, having averaged 89.2 points per game during that stretch. Their most recent outing was an 85-70 victory over Santa Fe on Feb. 25, powered by a 26-point performance from guard Kenyon Giles. Giles has been a consistent offensive force, scoring 25 or more points in three of his last six full games, including a 27-point effort in a win over Daytona State on Feb. 21.

Florida Southwestern’s offense presents a significant challenge for the Pioneers (10-12), who have struggled for consistency this season. Indian River State is coming off a 78-73 home win over Santa Fe on Feb. 28, fueled by a standout double-double from forward Tamiel Green, who posted 22 points and 15 rebounds.

The teams met just over a month ago, with the Buccaneers securing a decisive 101-82 home victory on Jan. 31. In that contest, Florida Southwestern’s balanced attack overwhelmed the Pioneers.

For Indian River State to reverse that result, containing Giles will be paramount. The Pioneers will likely rely heavily on Green’s interior presence to control the glass and provide secondary scoring. Support from guards Isiah Cameron and Caleb Cameron, who combined for 31 points and 19 rebounds in the win over Santa Fe, will also be critical.

The Buccaneers, however, boast more than just Giles. Mason Blazer (22 points vs. Santa Fe) and Tyler Bey (19 points, eight rebounds vs. Santa Fe) provide reliable scoring options, making Florida Southwestern a multifaceted offensive unit.

Monday’s game tips off at Indian River State’s home court in Fort Pierce. The Pioneers will aim to leverage home-court advantage and build on their recent win, while the Buccaneers seek to continue their march toward a 20-win season and solidify their standing as one of the region’s top teams.
