Brunswick vs Gaston

GASTONIA, N.C. (Interstat) — A marquee men’s junior college basketball matchup is set for Sunday when the Gaston Rhinos host the Brunswick Dolphins at Ashbrook High School.

Two of the region’s top teams will clash, with Gaston (15-2) looking to protect its home court and Brunswick (16-4) aiming to secure a regular-season series sweep. The Dolphins won the first meeting, 68-63, on Jan. 17 in Brunswick.

The Rhinos enter on a seven-game winning streak, last defeating USC Salkehatchie 104-89 on Feb. 25. Sophomore forward Ryan Evans has been a dominant force during the run, averaging 14.6 points and 7.4 rebounds over that stretch. He posted 21 points and eight rebounds in the most recent victory.

Brunswick seeks to rebound from a 100-90 road loss to Caldwell Tech on Feb. 28, which snapped a six-game win streak. The Dolphins are led by guard Linwood Rowe, who scored 27 points in that defeat and is a consistent offensive catalyst.

Statistical analyst Interstat gives Gaston a 66.1% probability to win, citing home-court advantage and recent form. The game features contrasting styles: Brunswick averages 98.2 points per game in its last five, while Gaston has held opponents to 80.1 points per game during its win streak.

Following this contest, Gaston visits Caldwell Tech for two games next week, while Brunswick hosts Wake Tech on March 4.
