Southeastern vs Marshalltown
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Interstat) — The Southeastern Community College Blackhawks look to solidify their winning season when they visit the struggling Marshalltown Community College Tigers in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Saturday.
Southeastern (13-10) enters having lost three straight, including a narrow 71-68 defeat to Moberly Area last Saturday. The Blackhawks will aim to rediscover their momentum against a Marshalltown (1-6) team mired in a five-game skid.
A key figure for the Blackhawks is guard Prophet Fields, who is coming off a 19-point, four-rebound performance in the loss to Moberly Area. Over his last six games, Fields has averaged 13.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists, showcasing his all-around capability. He scored 21 points in a win over Malcolm X on Jan. 31.
The Tigers, who have been outscored by an average of 33 points in their last two outings, will lean on forward Tom Guma. He provided a bright spot in Tuesday’s 94-71 loss at Indian Hills, posting 15 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes. Guma logged 40 minutes and scored eight points in the teams’ first meeting this season.
That Jan. 24 contest saw Southeastern dominate, winning 71-54 at home. The Blackhawks have won four of their last six games overall, while Marshalltown’s lone victory this season came back on Dec. 6, 2025, against Lake Region State.
For Southeastern, consistency beyond Fields will be crucial. Brady Martin and Jaleel Donley each contributed double-figure scoring in the recent loss. Marshalltown will need significant production from Tristan Christopher and Antoine Glasper, who each added 14 points alongside Guma last Tuesday, to challenge the Blackhawks.
Tipoff is set for Saturday at Marshalltown Community College. The Blackhawks seek a season sweep to improve their postseason positioning, while the Tigers desperately hunt for their second win.
