Vincennes vs Wabash Valley

Preview: Vincennes Visits Wabash Valley in Crucial JUCO Clash

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. (Interstat) — The top-ranked Vincennes Trailblazers, riding a wave of dominant victories, face a road test against the surging Wabash Valley Warriors in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Saturday.

Vincennes (22-2) enters with one of the nation’s premier records, though it is coming off a rare stumble, an 86-74 road loss to Kaskaskia on Feb. 21. The Trailblazers responded emphatically in their last outing, routing Olney Central 108-68 on Wednesday.

The Warriors (12-11) have found their rhythm, winning four consecutive games. Their latest was a 72-60 victory at Olney Central on Feb. 21, powered by a strong performance from guard Nazier Leonard.

The teams met just over a month ago, with Vincennes securing a 69-60 home win on Jan. 24.

A key matchup will feature two of the region’s hottest players. Vincennes is led by standout Drae Vasser, who has been on a tear. He is averaging 22.8 points over his last five games, including a 30-point, 12-rebound effort against Lake Land on Feb. 18.

He will be countered by Wabash Valley’s Leonard, who is coming off a 24-point, 7-rebound, 5-assist performance in the win at Olney Central. Leonard’s play has been central to the Warriors’ recent turnaround.

Despite the disparity in overall records, Wabash Valley has been strong at home and the Interstat game simulator projects a narrow, high-scoring affair, predicting a 100-100 tie.

For Vincennes, the game is a chance to reassert its dominance on the road before returning home. For Wabash Valley, it represents an opportunity to notch a season-defining victory and continue its late-season push.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Spencer Sports Center.
