Central Arizona vs Southern Nevada

Preview: Central Arizona at Southern Nevada

LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — A recent surge will be tested when the Central Arizona Vaqueros visit the Southern Nevada Coyotes in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026.

Central Arizona (10-16) rides a three-game winning streak into the contest, its longest of the season, following a dominant 83-64 victory over Cochise on Wednesday. The Vaqueros have found momentum behind guard Tayshaun Jackson, who is averaging 17.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists over his last five games. He erupted for 23 points, five rebounds and six assists in the win over Cochise.

Southern Nevada (8-13) looks to rebound from a tough 72-79 overtime road loss at Eastern Arizona on Wednesday. The Coyotes have struggled for consistency, having lost four of their last five. Forward Myron Hubbard, a key interior presence, is coming off a 10-rebound performance in that defeat and will be central to Southern Nevada’s efforts on the glass.

The season series is split, setting the stage for a rubber match. Southern Nevada edged Central Arizona 81-77 on the road on Feb. 11, overcoming an 8-point effort from Jackson. In the prior meeting on Jan. 24, the Vaqueros secured a 91-84 victory in Las Vegas.

For Central Arizona, sustaining its improved form will require more than Jackson’s production. Ja’Kwan Jordan (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Nathan Wanjohi (8 points, 13 rebounds) provided crucial interior support in the latest win. Southern Nevada will need more offensive punch to complement Hubbard’s rebounding; guard Drake Watanabe (13 points vs. Eastern Arizona) could be a source.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday at Southern Nevada’s home court. The Coyotes will aim to defend their home floor and halt their skid, while the Vaqueros seek a fourth straight win to continue their late-season push.
