Eastern Wyoming vs Laramie County

Preview: Eastern Wyoming at Laramie County

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Interstat) — A recent overtime thriller will be fresh in mind when the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles host the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers in a men’s junior college basketball rematch Saturday.

The Golden Eagles (14-11) will seek to avenge a 107-104 overtime loss to the Lancers (7-22) on Feb. 11 in Torrington. That result snapped a four-game winning streak for Laramie County and highlighted Eastern Wyoming’s potential despite its challenging season.

A key matchup will feature two of the region’s top performers. Eastern Wyoming guard Drezdon Jensen enters on a scoring tear, averaging 22.3 points over his last three games. He poured in 26 points in 35 minutes in a narrow 95-89 loss at Gillette on Wednesday. Jensen was instrumental in the first meeting with Laramie County, logging 40 minutes and scoring 23 points with five rebounds and three assists in the Lancers’ overtime victory.

Laramie County will counter with forward Aeremiah Binford, who posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds in the overtime loss earlier this month. Binford is coming off a strong performance in a 90-80 road win at Gillette on Feb. 21, where he contributed 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

The Golden Eagles have been the more consistent team this season and hold a commanding home-court advantage, having won four of their last five games in Cheyenne. Their offense has been potent, scoring 84 or more points in three of their last four contests.

Eastern Wyoming, despite its record, has shown resilience with two wins in its last five outings, both requiring overtime. The Lancers’ victory over Laramie County three weeks ago proves they can compete with the region’s top teams when Jensen and the offense are in rhythm.

Saturday’s game will tip off at 4 p.m. MST at the Laramie County Community College gymnasium.
