Panola vs Tyler

TYLER, Texas (Interstat) — A key Region XIV men’s junior college basketball matchup is set for Saturday when the Tyler Apaches host the Panola Ponies.

Both teams are looking to rebound from midweek losses. Panola (14-12) fell 70-62 at Kilgore on Wednesday, while Tyler (13-9) suffered a 95-67 defeat at Trinity Valley the same night.

The visiting Ponies will lean on forward CJ Worsham, who has been a consistent offensive force. In the loss to Kilgore, Worsham scored 19 points with six rebounds. Over his last seven games, he is averaging over 18 points and six rebounds per contest.

For the Apaches, forward Josiah Hill is a key presence inside. He grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss to Trinity Valley. His defensive work on the glass will be crucial against a Panola frontcourt featuring Worsham.

This game is a rematch from Jan. 19, when Panola defeated Tyler 79-61 at home. The Ponies have won three of their last five games overall. Tyler had won four straight before the lopsided loss to Trinity Valley, including a 101-76 victory over Coastal Bend on Feb. 21.

The matchup pits two teams jockeying for postseason positioning in a competitive conference. Panola’s offense, sparked by Worsham, will test a Tyler defense that allowed a season-high in points last time out. Conversely, the Apaches will aim to control the tempo at home and improve upon their January performance against the Ponies.

Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Tyler’s home venue.
