Coastal Bend vs Paris
PARIS, Texas (Interstat) — The Paris Dragons will look to halt a two-game skid when they host the struggling Coastal Bend Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Saturday at Hunt Center.
Paris (11-13) enters off a 94-75 road loss to Navarro on Wednesday. The Dragons had won three of their previous four, including an 82-79 victory over Blinn on Feb. 21. Coastal Bend (3-19) seeks to end a nine-game losing streak, most recently a 54-51 home loss to Angelina on Wednesday.
The Dragons won the season’s first meeting, 73-60, at Coastal Bend on Dec. 13.
A key matchup will feature two standout forwards. Paris’s Chazz Dubois is coming off a versatile performance in the loss to Navarro, logging 25 minutes with two rebounds, three assists and three blocks. He had 13 points and eight rebounds in a win over Lamar State-Port Arthur on Feb. 7.
For Coastal Bend, Matthew Johnson has been a bright spot during the difficult season. He scored 20 points with eight rebounds in a loss to Trinity Valley on Feb. 18 and averages 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds over his last four full games played.
The Cougars have struggled defensively, allowing 101 points to Tyler and 101 to Panola in recent weeks. Paris’s offense, which put up 88 points in two of its last five games, will look to exploit that weakness.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be a high-scoring affair, finishing in a 100-100 tie.
After this game, Paris travels to face Panola on Wednesday, while Coastal Bend hosts Navarro on March 4.
