Mississippi Delta vs Northeast Mississippi

Preview: Mississippi Delta Trojans at Northeast Mississippi Tigers

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (Interstat) — The Northeast Mississippi Tigers will look to get back to .500 and complete a season sweep when they host the struggling Mississippi Delta Trojans in a men’s junior college basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 26.

The Tigers (10-10) enter the contest having lost three straight, including an 88-67 defeat to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Feb. 19. They will lean on forward Ezekiel Udozorh, who has been a consistent bright spot. Udozorh is coming off a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in that loss and has averaged 16.1 points and 6.0 rebounds over his last seven games, including a 24-point performance in a win over Jones on Feb. 9.

Mississippi Delta (1-12) is mired in a prolonged slump, having lost 12 consecutive games. The Trojans’ last outing was a 74-55 home loss to Coahoma on Monday. Their lone win this season came on Dec. 6, a 109-92 road victory over Northwest Mississippi. Defense has been a persistent issue, as they have allowed 80 or more points in eight of their 12 losses.

In the first meeting this season on Dec. 2, Northeast Mississippi secured an 81-72 road win over the Trojans.

For the Tigers, this game represents a critical opportunity to stabilize their season before a road test at East Mississippi on March 2. For the Trojans, it is a chance to find any momentum before hosting Northwest Mississippi on March 2.

Tip-off is set for Thursday night at Bonner Arnold Coliseum.
