Paris vs Navarro

PARIS, Texas (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams hovering near .500 will meet Wednesday night when the Paris Dragons visit the Navarro Bulldogs.

The Dragons (11-12) and Bulldogs (11-14) are seeking momentum for the final stretch of the season. Their previous meeting this season resulted in an 82-72 home victory for Navarro on Jan. 17.

Paris enters following a narrow 82-79 home win over Blinn on Feb. 21. The Dragons had lost four of their previous five games before that victory. A player to watch for Paris is Chazz Dubois, who contributed in the win over Blinn.

Navarro snapped a five-game losing streak with a 67-59 road victory at Lee on Feb. 21. The Bulldogs’ recent performances have been highlighted by guard Shawn Mitchell. In Navarro’s narrow 63-62 loss at Angelina on Feb. 14, Mitchell played 38 minutes, scoring 16 points with three rebounds and three assists. He followed that with six points, three rebounds and three assists in a loss at Tyler.

Both teams have struggled for consistency. Since their first matchup, Paris is 4-6, while Navarro is 3-7. The game will feature contrasting recent trends, with Paris aiming for a second straight win and Navarro looking to build on its first victory in nearly three weeks.

The rematch carries implications for regional standings as the regular season winds down. Paris will host Coastal Bend on Saturday, while Navarro will host Lamar State-Port Arthur.
