South Georgia State vs Albany Tech

ALBANY, Ga. (Interstat) — A pivotal men’s junior college basketball matchup with postseason implications is set for Wednesday when the South Georgia State Hawks visit the Albany Tech Titans.

The Hawks (11-8) enter on a three-game winning streak, including a 104-85 rout of Southern Crescent on Saturday. The Titans (8-11) look to snap a two-game skid after a narrow 86-83 road loss to Georgia Highlands the same day.

South Georgia State won the previous meeting this season, 78-71 at home on Jan. 21. A victory Wednesday would give the Hawks a season sweep and solidify their position above .500, while the Titans aim to level their record in the head-to-head series and climb back toward an even season mark.

A key matchup will feature two of the region’s top performers. South Georgia State is led by Jeremy Anderson, who is coming off a dominant 23-point, 10-rebound, five-assist performance against Southern Crescent. Over his last six games, Anderson has averaged a double-double, posting 16.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest.

Albany Tech will counter with Nicholas Durham, who has been a consistent scoring threat. He tallied 18 points, five rebounds and five assists in the loss to Georgia Highlands and has scored in double figures in five of his last seven outings.

The Hawks’ recent surge has been fueled by offensive efficiency, scoring 86 points or more in four of their last five wins. Chandler Thomas (15 points) and Aaron Jones (12 points, eight rebounds, three blocks) provided crucial support in the latest victory.

Albany Tech has shown resilience at home, winning three of its last four in Albany, including conference victories over South Georgia Tech and Gordon State earlier this month. Tyler Husband and Miles George, who combined for 37 points against Georgia Highlands, will be essential alongside Durham for the Titans to offset the Hawks’ momentum.

Wednesday’s result will carry weight for both teams’ positioning ahead of their respective conference tournament seedings next month.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST at the Albany Tech gymnasium.
