Highland (Ill.) vs Malcolm X

Preview: Highland (Ill.) Cougars at Malcolm X Hawks

CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Malcolm X Hawks look to solidify their winning season record Tuesday when they host the Highland (Ill.) Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball matchup.

The Hawks (12-8) enter the contest seeking to rebound from a 96-76 road loss to Triton on Feb. 19. Prior to that defeat, Malcolm X had won four consecutive games, a streak that included a 90-66 victory at Kennedy-King on Feb. 10.

Malcolm X will rely on guard Joaquin Dixon, who has been a consistent offensive force. During the team’s recent win streak, Dixon posted performances of 30 points, 25 points and 24 points. His playmaking was on full display in the win at Kennedy-King, where he added seven assists to his 25 points.

The visiting Cougars (10-15) are coming off a 60-50 road win against Kennedy-King on Saturday. Forward Stevan Jurisic led Highland with 17 points and nine rebounds in that victory, while Chin Hanson recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Highland has experienced recent inconsistency, alternating wins and losses over its past six games. The Cougars’ last meeting with Malcolm X resulted in an 86-80 home loss on Dec. 6, 2025, suggesting a closely contested rematch could be in store.

The game presents a contrast in momentum. Malcolm X aims to rediscover its pre-Triton form and protect its home court, while Highland looks to build on its latest defensive effort and string together consecutive wins for the first time since early January.

Following this game, Malcolm X travels to face Kankakee on Thursday, Feb. 26. Highland’s next scheduled game is at Indian Hills on Friday, Feb. 27.

Tip-off is set for Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at Malcolm X College in Chicago.
