Otero vs Lamar

Preview: Otero Rattlers at Lamar Runnin’ Lopes

LAMAR, Colo. (Interstat) — The Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes seek to avenge a recent loss and improve their postseason positioning when they host the Otero College Rattlers in a men’s junior college basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.

Lamar (11-14) enters the contest looking to rebound from a 90-68 road loss to Trinidad State on Wednesday. The Runnin’ Lopes had won three of their previous four games prior to that defeat. Otero (3-19) arrives on a six-game losing streak, most recently falling 89-78 at Southeast on Wednesday.

The teams met just three weeks ago in La Junta, with Otero securing a 72-65 victory on Jan. 31. That result will likely fuel a Lamar squad playing at home.

A key player to watch for Lamar is Donovan Dabney, who is coming off a strong 18-point, 4-rebound performance in 38 minutes against Trinidad State. Over his last six meaningful appearances, Dabney has averaged 10.8 points and 4.3 rebounds, providing consistent production for the Runnin’ Lopes.

For Otero, forward Nedum Chiadika has emerged as a recent bright spot. After playing minimal minutes in several mid-season contests, Chiadika has seen expanded playing time in February. He logged 29 minutes and posted 14 points and 7 rebounds in the loss to Southeast, following a near triple-double of 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists at Northeastern (Colo.) on Feb. 4. His development will be crucial for the Rattlers’ chances.

While Lamar holds a clear advantage in the overall season record, the Rattlers have shown they can compete, evidenced by their January win in the head-to-head matchup. Lamar will aim to leverage its home court and recent, more consistent form to split the season series.

The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tipoff at the LCC Wellness Center.
