Southern Idaho vs North Idaho
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (Interstat) — The No. 1-ranked Southern Idaho Eagles, boasting one of the nation’s top junior college records, visit the North Idaho Cardinal on Saturday in a men’s basketball rematch.
Southern Idaho (21-2) has dominated the series this season, winning both matchups decisively, including an 85-69 victory at home on Feb. 7. The Eagles enter on a three-game winning streak, most recently routing Salt Lake 83-61 on Feb. 14.
A key player for the Eagles is guard Jalen Lyn, who is coming off a 26-point, six-rebound performance against Salt Lake. In his last six games, Lyn is averaging 14.5 points. He is supported by a deep roster; in the win over Salt Lake, Nathan Ahner added 15 points and seven assists, while Ben Thornbrue scored 21 points.
North Idaho (12-11) has shown recent improvement, winning its last two contests. The Cardinal defeated Colorado Northwestern 80-70 on Feb. 14, led by a standout performance from forward Ne’quan Brown, who posted 20 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists. Brown has been a force, averaging 17.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists over his last six games, including a 31-point outing against Salt Lake on Feb. 11.
The Cardinal will look to leverage home court advantage to reverse their fortunes against the league-leading Eagles. In the Feb. 7 loss, Brown was held to 11 points.
Southern Idaho’s potent offense, which has scored 85 or more points in all three head-to-head meetings since November 2025, will test a North Idaho defense that has been inconsistent. The Eagles have won the last three meetings by an average margin of 17 points.
Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at Christianson Gymnasium. Following this game, both teams will prepare for their next conference matchups on Feb. 26.
